Uber and Lyft are offering the best a free market and democracy can offer: the freedom (totally free choice) to make your own mistakes and learn from them...both as a rider, and more so, as a driver.

A free market economy, a democracy, provides the citizens a chance to move up. The costs of that is, there is also a chance to screw up, make bad decisions, and fall to the bottom.

In closed economy, in dictator-ruled countries, there are not many opportunities to move up. The other side of the coin is, there is not much chance to fall to the bottom either.
