    well if they can get out from under the chicrabbie spell, there might be a chance. I don't see why it would be difficult to post on both sites.. just have both sites up at the same time

    that bartmccoy nic is an obvious uberite I commented that the uber ratings are good for a laugh and emphasized that i could care less if they deactivated me, so he comments, uber gets the last laugh when they deactivate you ...

    Love it Ann! Not sure how you want this done but I'll start!

    Ping = getting a ride request if you are a driver. (if you are a rider you are sending a ping (ride request) to the system which then routes your ping request to an appropriate driver based on their algorithm. Not always based on closest driver in some cases!)

    Surge = A pricing method used by Uber to increase fares to encourage more Uber Drivers to get out on the road. The idea is to match supply of drivers with the demand of riders. Some however believe that surge is also used by Uber to redistribute drivers to other areas. An area in surge does not guarantee a driver will get a ping, so chasing surge is not recommended.

    Tipping = Gratuity. Lyft includes a tipping function within the Lyft app. Uber only has a tipping function in Uber's Taxi platform, not for most other Ubers, including UberX platforms. Uber discourages tipping in an effort to keep rider's fares the lowest possible. Unfortunately Uber has reduced fares so low. in most areas, for most vehicles, that Uber Drivers are often unable to make a profit without surge pricing for fares.

    I recall a member on the other side that lives in Dallas says shes very successful at getting surge fares. I think the nic was docswife. I don't doubt it, but it I think for newer drivers, getting surge fare would probably be more difficult.

    @DoyleLonnegan that's a good one!
    Fares = The price of the ride.

    Yea, surges are very different depending on what market a driver is in.

    The guarantees are another one the more experienced drivers capitalize on. The guarantees remind me of the game "musical chairs". If everyone tried to work them, they would still be some left out when the music stopped.

    For example, I know that you have to have like one run an hour or something, and there are some scenarios where it just doesn't happen. There's a few other "conditions" that can easily disqualify you from getting that $35 or so per hour.

    YOU are Exactly Right!
    Guarantees = There are no Guarantees!
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    Uber creates all kinds of hoops for so-called "guaranteed pay". When I logged on my very first day with Uber, I received a text message that said Opt-In for Guaranteed Pay! And of course there was a list of stips. I was confident about being able to meet all of them, except the one that I couldn't control which was a minimum rating. But I opted in anyhow. And to my surprise, I did meet all the requirements. THEN Uber tried to tell me I didn't qualify because I 'opted in' on someone else's offer. Uber said they don't make that offer to every driver. So I spent 2 weeks writing CSR emails to get it straightened out for a lousy $74.

    CSR = Customer Service Representative
    These are the Uber people who handle problems via email for both drivers and riders. They have templates and quotas for responses, so often you will get the wrong template answer to your question, because CSRs are in a hurry to answer emails and apparently there must not be too much accountability for giving the right answer!

    Ah yes the ratings minimum!!! I don't how true this is, but I wouldn't put it past them... I saw several posts about how uber sends some of their employees on uber rides and deliberately rates them 1 to try to keeps the ratings down.

    I loved alot of happytypists on the other sites. She gives you a pretty good idea of what's goes on behind the scenes. Sounds like uber tries to screw them over too.
