The Australian Tax Office (ATO) has just catergorised UBERX drivers as TAXI Drivers for the purposes of GST (Good & Services Tax) and Income Tax collection. Its causing a meltdown in X drivers here who dont want to go to the trouble of registering for GST, then having to submit quarterly statements. Of Course UBER are trying to dodge this National Tax obligation, the least they can do is up their rates by the 10% drivers need to collect, and pass on to cover this added cost.
