This week uber rolled out a few emails. The first one is "Now you can call us 24/7!" But what they don't tell you is that you could always call 24/7. Its still the same crappy philippino call center that hires people who can't speak english or help you. All they do is say "we'll report your issue to the proper department." and you never hear back.

The other thing they've done is redesign their earnings section on their website. No longer is the information in a table so you cant copy and paste it into a spreadsheet. Not only that, but the information is limited to per-ride. And the way the website is designed it takes ten seconds to pull up each ride individually. You have to go to earnings > X week > x fare... every, single time. And if you're like me and try to get the promotions, you end up doing about 100 rides a week. That means entering information by hand for all 100 rides, plus the time it takes to click through the website to find each fare. And they did this the same week they sent me an email saying they've made payment information EASIER to understand.

Now the reason for this is pretty obvious, they don't want uber drivers to figure out how everything is manipulated. They recently lost a lawsuit to new york drivers for taking 25% comission before taxes when they're supposed to take 25% of what's left after taxes. And because they're doing their best to hide fare information from drivers, it's likely that they're hiding things from the rest of us too.

I highly recommend pulling all of your ride information into a spreadsheet and seeing what your breakdown is. There's no other way to understand how Uber works, which is the last thing they want you to know.
